He went in the booth without telling anyone what the track was about he just laid it in one take--over about three tracks. Then he told Val Young what the concept was, and she went in and laid her chorus vocal in one take, too. After the vocals were done, 'Pac had Ricky Rouse [Makaveli musician] replace my keyboard bass and guitar parts with live bass and guitar parts, and the song was done--less than two hours total. This song just flowed out of everyone that was a part of it. No one thought twice no one doubted anything.
About Makaveli Makaveli is more myth than man. Tupac Shakur was inspired by Nicolo Machiavelli, the Renaissance-era political scientist who detailed war strategy in The Prince. The West Coast rapper adopted the Makaveli alias at the height of his beef with the Notorious B.I.G. And Bad Boy Records for the highly controversial The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory. He finished the album shortly before his still-unsolved murder in November 1996.
Such a credit solely to the West was irresponsibly given, since much of 2pac’s work under the alias Makaveli came as the product of his East and West hybrid Outlawz crew. While the media during the mid-90’s inflated the fantasy of an East versus West coast beef, Tupac worked for three days straight to create The 3 Day Theory. The Outlawz crew can’t match the emotional intensity of Tupac, but do manage to give The 3 Day Theory some much needed variety in vocal tone. Much of the time it seems the Outlawz are never as comfortable as Tupac on the beat. Then again three days isn’t much time to compose an hour and 20 minutes of content.

When 's full-length debut,, came out in 1991, it didn't have the same immediate impact, didn't instantly throw him into the upper echelons of rap's elite, as ', 's, or even his biggest rival, 's did, but the album certainly set him up for his illustrious and sadly short-lived career. Part of its initial problem, what held it back from extensive radio play, is that there's not an obvious single.

The last track When Thugs Cry is truly breathtaking, a mix of blues and hardcore rap that could not be defeated if anyone tried. I can’t believe this track was removed from The 7 Day Theory simply because it fits the bill so well. My theory is this track and the Hidden Track reinforced too much the notion that Tupac wanted to build his own iconic following. He did not want to be Deathrow Records forever, he wanted to move on to being Tupac & The Outlawz, a plan that would have worked if not for his death. For an album The 3 Day Theory is less capable of achieving one thematic topic than The 7 Day Theory. That said, the tracks that were taken off The 7 Day Theory should have stayed simply because they were not lacking in quality.

There are many interpretations of this album cover, the primary theme communicates that through depiction, Tupac is highlighting what he perceives to be his being vilified by the media and left alone to suffer his fate. The parental advisor sticker could be a reference to both what he perceived to be his demonization due to his promiscuous lifestyle, but also and most importantly, it could be a reference to his conviction of sexual assault, a charge in which he maintained his innocence against. The names of the cities that are on the album cover may be a representation of Tupac's belief that he represents the entirety of the African-American community in his public vilification, that he, like African-American people as a whole, is on display to be gazed upon and judged through the Euro-American racial prism. Furthermore, this theme of representation is also connected to the political commitments of Tupac Shakur as he was in the midst of deepening his political activity in the form of the creation of a Hip-Hop political party prior his murder. The controversial album cover has placed it amongst the most iconic and talked about album covers in the history of music.

And this is fantastic content, much of which is not shared in The 7 Day Theory. This is why I sought The 3 Day Theory, to experience this iconic album as it was meant to be experienced by its creators. The beginning track Bomb First is exactly the same as the official version save for the transition into the following track. What I do notice is the lyrics tend to stick out more in every track. This is not necessarily the result of clearer speaking, rather the mixing is not mastered enough to overpower the lyrics like in the released version.

This is because Watch Ya Mouth is a far more guttural, hungry, and unstoppably critical track that attacks just about anyone that said a bad thing about Tupac. The beat is a lot like the one in Toss It Up because both sound minimalistic in design, except in Watch Ya Mouth this minimalism actually plays very well.
