How to disable cyberlink powerdvd autorun? * Double-click Turn off Autoplay. Several users like to use Windows Media Player when playing DVD movies. How can the answer be improved? Dec 29, 2018 CyberLink power media player 14 I'm trying to watch a DVD and I get a message that CyberLink power media player 14 is already running. I don't know how to turn it off!
Last option if i can't find a way to disable autorun would be to uninstall it and use some other dvd player. Any suggestions for a free one? @Phantom69 thanks for that suggestion. I just looked at the startup list and sure enough there is a listing for the cyberlink powerdvd program. Unselecting that may have worked, BUT, i had continued to investigate and read that using TweakUI might work where the other known strategies for disabling autorun (as per original post) do not work. TweakUI did it.
Are you using a small SSD? I know the post is old. I did read the post, but my understanding of it is to completely disable Power DVD 12 from running. I do not have it set to start when my computer starts. I have it set it in my auto play for blur-ray disc.

Dell system has cyberlink powerdvd. When i want to back up my dvds i'd prefer not to have powerdvd start up and have to wait for it to get going and then shut it down (it conflicts with anydvd). I've read and done the things listed on the dell website (and google) for disabling autorun for dell media experience(dmx)/cyberlink powerdvd. It still starts up. Anyone know of any method that works?
I want to play music on my computer while working on my homework, while using the least power possible, so I set power options to turn the display off after 1 minute, and applied changes. I noticed if my Windows Media Player music is paused, the display will turn off as it should, but if music is playing, it will stay on. How do I keep WMP from keeping the display on?

Stop all the no-brainers and be careful with the optional ones. The processes he mentions are all started by PowerDVD at launch (program startup, not windows startup).

• If you use a different video viewing program such as Windows Media Player? • When you receive this notification, is there a numbered error in the same window? • Do you get this same error message if you try different DVDs?
CyberLink Power Media Player 12 is a software program developed by CyberLink. The most common release is 12.0.5.4505, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. During setup, the program creates a startup registration point in Windows in order to automatically start when any user boots the PC. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version).
Then organize > Options > Player > Allow Screen Saver During Playback Now adjust Screensaver settings and Power Plan Settings at your will. You may turn off the display after one minute. Right Click on the desktop > Personalize > Screensaver > Change Power Settings > you will be in the power options window, I hope balanced (recommended) is checked.
I have a new Pavilion dv7-6187cl laptop which works great (Win 7 Home) except for this annoying glitch. I want (and have configured) Windows Media Player to rip audio CDs when I mount them. It does that okay, but then PowerDVD starts up and starts playing the CD at the same time, and with both applications reading from different parts of the CD at different times I get this annoying stuttering playback. Have already tracked-down the checkbox in PowerDVD's settings that causes it to autoplay a disc and unchecked it, but it doesn't seem to care. Very, very annoying. I don't want to uninstall PowerDVD because it surely has other good uses, but I do NOT want it playing my CDs when I mount them.
The default library for ripping and for WMP playback is on the external drive. On my main account the rip location and libraries are the default ones, but of course with admin access I can still play my hq files without either messing up my main library or having to switch user. I think it ought to be possible to turn off PowerDvd without uninstalling it. I don't do that much with video and dvd really, so when I did a factory reset a few years back I did not reinstall it, so I shall need to look around and see if I can confirm that (or maybe someone else will in the meantime!) Do holler if you get seriously stuck though - Regards - Ric No longer active in this community from July 2018 - Regards to all - RW.

Hi All, For our use, it appears we only need one process running (PowerDVD12.exe). But there can 7-8 more running in the background. We can't find a way to turn some of them off. We only need (PowerDVD12.exe) for v12 Ultra to work with our purpose. We are trying to disable the rest. Here are some explanations as to what those processes are for some understanding in case you haven't found this page. This assumes you're running Windows 7.
I have been through exactly the same thing with my media PC (also trying to slim it down). Quote: Are they starting when you start the program or are they starting at boot? You would be surprised at how many do. 1) You can use Windows msconfig - start up, uncheck the ones you don't want to make sure they don't start; 2) If you are not sure what is absolutely needed, download and run the free 'Soluto' software.
Go back into the task manager and click on Services in the heading bar. In that Window find Services again in the lower right corner. The Power DVD12 applications should show up in that list, in there you can choose to permanently keep them from running or starting up. Double click on the desired service and a new window will come up where you can disable the service in the drop-down box. Are they starting when you start the program or are they starting at boot? You would be surprised at how many do. 1) You can use Windows msconfig - start up, uncheck the ones you don't want to make sure they don't start; 2) If you are not sure what is absolutely needed, download and run the free 'Soluto' software.

I'm running Windows 8 and in the Computer menu, I see a huge list of 'media server' network locations of many of the PCs in my network (most running Windows 7). Is there a way to either locally disable this so I don't see this list every time, or disable this sharing feature on the other computers? I've tried disabling 'Media Streaming options' from the Network and Sharing Center (on my PC), but that had no effect. Another thing I tried was enabling Media Streaming, but then selecting all the found clients and clicking Blocked in the list of found clients. That had no effect in removing the list either. I've also attempted disabling the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service, but alas, the list remains. I'm starting to believe there's a magic registry key to unbury and flip to a '1', but all the searching I've done has come up empty.

It kinda depends what kinda card powers the laptop ATI or someone else. Before you update those drivers you need to know what kinda video card you have. To check right-click on desktop and choose properties, and at the top of the screen that pops up click on the settings tab. On this screen just under the picture of a monitor it should say 'Display: Default monitor on __________ ' the blank part is where it would say your video card. From there you can actually click settings towards the bottom, then click on the adapter tab at the top to see more details on your card. One other spot it would be is in the device manager.
