I'm SO impressed! It made a huge difference and worked without any issues from the very beginning. My favorite part of it is that I can keep it plugged in and as the lighting changes around my computer through out the course of the day, it will alter my screens calibration so that I can still see an accurate picture on my screen. I don't worry anymore about what my prints are going to look like. I'd recommend this to everyone!
Once completed, the difference in color balance was pleasingly noticeable on both systems. I can now edit with confidence that what I see on my monitors is as accurate as possible.

To do it again will take about 20 minutes when I need to profile another paper or re-profile my monitor. This is way too easy to produce results this good! My monitor shows colors and gamut amazingly close to what comes out of the printer.
The Colormunki Smile does not provide the additional features of the more expensive models. However, all I wanted was accurate color reproduction and this did the job. Finally got it to work on both machines but additional attempts were met with the same problems.
First of all the colormunki photo cost me an additional 250 dollars or so because of international shipping and customs duties, so I wanted this to be exceptionally good, which it simply is. I have so far calibrated 3 monitors. 1 HP laptop, 1 imac 27 and 1 27 inch ASUS, all of which had minds of their own as far as dealing with colors was concerned. Remarkably enough, after calibration, they all look pretty much the same and yes I do understand that the laptop display will have its own drawbacks. I had no idea my displays were off by this much.

When it did work it yielded a pretty good, not great result on my Windows PC, but the profile it created for my Macbook Pro 17 was absolutely ridiculously bad with a strong greenish brown tint and very dark with little contrast. I am a very serious enthusiast level photographer with some professional projects that occasionally come my way and the Colormunki Smile is completely inadequate for my needs. I am a professional photographer with several years of experience behind a camera, and a couple of years of digital editing experience with both Adobe Photoshop Elements, and Adobe Lightroom to edit my photos.
If you took your out of the box, hooked it up, and set it to any one of the available picture presets, there's a good chance that it needs to be calibrated. Fuzzy image detail and inaccurate colors are the most obvious signs that something is not right, but there are other side effects of an un-calibrated monitor, such as when your monitor's output doesn't match your printer's output, or when images look different on your laptop screen than they do on your desktop monitor. Fortunately, there are calibration tools available that will have all of your monitors and looking their best without spending a fortune.
But I had a calibrated monitor in the past, and knew that I really needed to purchase a device like this to really get my work to be as good as it could be. I did some research and found that the ColorMunki had great reviews and while I had used a different brand before I thought I would try the ColorMnki. I am so happy that I did.

I own a very nice SLR camera and only buy the best lenses. After months of frustration with my photo prints I decided to purchase this product. The prints, from professional printing companies, looked terrible before purchasing this. You have to BUY this if you spend hours editing.
Gave very warm and dark tones overall. I then went back and played with the color calibration within the Apple system and still not quite right. Have considered re-doing the ColorMonki calibration again. Wish I could get back to the Apple default settings for better comparison. And then the printing after calibration didn't look like the on screen photo so really need to spend some time playing with this. And it might be better on Windows.

I tried to calibrate my laptop monitor and got the same thing. It seemed to work one out of 5-10 tries. I looked for some solutions on line and learned that there may be some problems working with Mavericks. I contacted X-Rite customer support, but they would not respond to my questions unless I registered the product - but B&H policy is that they will not accept returns if the product is registered (which makes sense) my annoyance is with X-Rite being stingy with their support. I decided not to mess with it any more and sent it back. I do like X-Rite's Colorchecker Passport but the ColorMunki is a no go for me and I would not recommend it. I sent an e-mail to Xrite, however after two days of waiting without a response, I went searching again and found the solution on a support page for a color management equipment reseller. Once corrected, all works great. Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from great product Even with calibrating my monitor, I've been having minor problems getting my prints to look right on my Epson 4000, especially with non-Epson papers. The ColorMunki has solved that. I've now profiled all the papers I use, each one taking about 30 minutes, and the prints are looking a lot better, most of them extremely close to the image I see on the monitor.

I'd been told by a friend that the ColorMunkie was fantastic because it's super easy to use and works wonderfully, so I thought I'd give it a try.
Less than ten minutes after opening the package calibration was complete. I no longer see a difference (aside from backlighting) between prints and the display.
On my Sony monitor (SDM-P234) it appears it worked rather well. It appears to have removed a reddish cast i suspected was there, and it was overly contrasty as wellOn my Dell 1909W monitor, it didn't do so hot. It introduced a reddish cast. But the Sony is my primary monitor I use for photoshop work, so I can live it, I just set the Dell back to default. It's very easy to use even in the advanced mode. It walks you through every step and setting required to set up your monitor and printer. I highly recommend the ColorMunki for anyone truly serious about getting quality output of your images. I only wish the side button was located in an area not so easily touched by your thumb when turning the dial. I found it sometimes initiating a step that I wasn't ready for when turning the dial.

B&H refused to take it back and sent me to the manufacturer. XRite has made me jump through many hoops for a couple of months now. After many attempts I got it to connect to one of my computers again so I could print out a systems report for them. Now they deny receiving it. The rep I was working with eventually agreed to replace it but nothing happened. I contacted them again and got switched to a different rep who wants me to start over, test it again, send him system reports, etc. They refuse to replace it and they don't even keep their word.

My gripes with the ColorMunki Display are minor; the colorimeter needs a longer USB cord and the software lacks charting capabilities. That didn't take much time to fix, and once down loaded it worked like a charm. Rated 5 out of 5 by Ganzel from nice ambient lighting awareness I use this display calibration device to make sure my monitor is showing me accurate colors before I start doing color grading in adobe premiere cs5.5 and after effect cs5.5 via the color finesse plug-in. It was quick to setup and calibrate. It seems my monitor (LG Flatron W3000H) needed a lot more red and contrast, and I had to lower the brightness of a third. I like: -Straightforward installation/calibration -checks for ambient lighting every X minutes So far I really like this tool. I took a quick picture of the Colormunki with my cellphone to show where I'm using it. It is working on my editing/color correction PC.
Greens, in particular, appeared much warmer in print than on screen. No amount of fiddling with monitor settings solved the problem. When the Smile went on sale, I gave up and ordered one.
So if you have a Mac system proceed with caution. Or at least note what your default settings are so you can undo calibration if necessary.
